Player Rating Superlatives: A Look at the Fastest, Strongest Cowboys in EA Sports’ College Football 27
The highest-rated Pokes at each position, the highest-rated true freshman and more.
Another sign that the college football season is getting closer is that this year’s video game is getting about to release.
EA Sports’ College Football 27 launches worldwide on July 9. EA has done a lot more pre-drop stuff this season, going so far as to releasing all of the game’s player ratings ahead of the launch.
It had previously been revealed that OSU is the third-highest ranked Big 12 team in the game, and we already knew the Top 10 Cowboys in the game. But with the full ratings being released, let’s look around at superlatives. You can view OSU’s full ratings here.
Highest-Rated By Position
I stuck with the positions that the game has for them. Maybe this is where OSU’s offensive linemen line up; maybe they’re shuffled in different spots. I’ve also included where each guy transferred from as a bit of a roster-learning exercise given all the turnover.
QB — Drew Mestemaker (89 overall/North Texas transfer)
RB — Caleb Hawkins (91 overall/North Texas transfer)
WR — Wyatt Young (90 overall/North Texas transfer)
TE — Donovan Green (80 overall/LSU transfer)
LT — Braydon Nelson (80 overall/North Texas transfer)
LG — Jacob Sexton (79 overall/Oklahoma transfer)
C — Tyler Mercer (69 overall/Kansas transfer)
RG — Johnny Dickson III (81 overall/North Texas transfer)
RT — Joseph Hanson (76 overall/Coastal Carolina transfer)
REDGE — James Williams (84 overall/Florida State transfer)
LEDGE — Braylon Rigsby (77 overall/Texas Tech transfer)
DT — Jerry Lawson (78 overall/Louisville transfer)
WILL — Ethan Wesloski (87 overall/North Texas Transfer)
MIKE — Isaiah Chisom (80 overall/UCLA transfer)
CB — Mo Horn (86 overall/Texas Tech transfer)
FS — Christian Bodnar (79 overall/Liberty transfer)
SS — Evan Jackson (78 overall/North Texas transfer)
K — Sam Keltner (73 overall/SMU transfer)
P — Lachie Pozzobon (69 overall/Stephen F. Austin transfer)
Fastest
There are six Cowboys with a 91 speed rating, tying for the team lead:
Caleb Hawkins (RB/North Texas transfer)
Chris Barnes (WR/Wake Forest transfer)
Miles Coleman (WR/North Texas transfer)
Mo Horn (CB/Texas Tech transfer)
Trudell Berry (CB/Vanderbilt transfer)
Vincent Holmes (S/Washington transfer)
Among that group, Coleman and Horn are tied for the highest acceleration stat at 94, meaning those two get up to that top speed a little quicker than the others. If I had to guess, Barnes will probably get a boost in those stats once the season starts and he has a little more film.
Strongest
Oklahoma offensive line transfer Jacob Sexton has the highest strength rating among Pokes at 95. Michigan State transfer O-lineman Ashton Lepo joins him in the 90s at 93.
The strongest defensive player is Louisville transfer defensive tackle Jerry Lawson at 88 strength.
Highest-Rated Freshman
Jenks running back KD Jones is the highest-rated true freshman on the roster at 75 overall.
Jones comes in with 89 speed, 93 acceleration, 87 agility and 87 change of direction.
