STILLWATER — Oklahoma State’s 2026 quarterback commit, Kase Evans, decommitted from the Cowboys on Thursday. He thanked former head coach Mike Gundy and current OSU staffers for their interest in him.

“After many prayers and a long talk with my family, I have decided to decommit from Oklahoma State and reopen my recruitment,” Evans posted on social media.

Evans is the fifth Cowboy commit to reopen their recruitment following Gundy’s dismissal on Tuesday.

Interim coach Doug Meacham and OSU staffer Kenyatta Wright, whom Gundy often praised as a leader in recruiting efforts, spoke about the ongoing efforts to keep the 2026 class together.

Evans committed back in June after finishing last season with 3,113 yards and 37 touchdowns against only seven interceptions. According to MaxPreps, Evans has completed 63.4% of his passes through four games for 811 yards and 11 touchdowns. He’s also averaging 6 yards per carry with two touchdowns on 32 rushing attempts.
