Oklahoma State ranked No. 13 in AP Poll

For the first time ever Oklahoma State is ranked ahead of Oklahoma in the preseason AP poll.[1. The AP poll started in 1950.]

Think about that.

It’s pretty amazing.

The Cowboys came in ranked No. 13 in the first AP poll of the year, just ahead of Texas (No. 15), OU (No. 16), and TCU (No. 20). No other Big 12 teams were ranked.[1 Somewhere Art Briles stews silently and I am terrified.]

Here’s a look at OSU’s last few preseason AP rankings…

2008: NR
2009: 9
2010: NR
2011: 9
2012: 19
2013: 13

It’s a good spot for OSU and (obviously) the first time it has been ranked first out of Big 12 teams but the lack of Big 12 teams in the top 10 is a bit disturbing. AP voters are basically saying “yep, half the SEC is better than all of the Big 12.”

And they’re probably right.
