The Cowboys will start the David Taylor era inside the top three in the country.

Oklahoma State was ranked third in InterMat’s preseason tournament rankings behind only Penn State and Iowa. The Cowboys were the highest-ranked Big 12 team ahead of Missouri (8), South Dakota State (9), Arizona State (12), Northern Iowa (14), Iowa State (15), West Virginia (16), Northern Colorado (21) and Wyoming (25). OSU was fifth in the dual rankings, which was also the best from the Big 12.

InterMat also released its preseason individual rankings, with nine Cowboys ranked. Air Force transfer Wyatt Hendrickson was the highest-ranked wrestler at No. 2 at heavyweight behind Penn State’s Greg Kerkvliet. Hendrickson finished third at the NCAA Wrestling Championships the past two years.

Returning 184-pound NCAA finalist Dustin Plott was next at No. 3 behind a pair of former national champions in Penn State’s Carter Starocci and Northern Iowa’s Parker Keckeisen.

Four other Cowboys were also inside the top 10 of their respective weights. Michigan transfer Cameron Amine was sixth at 165, while fellow transfer Dean Hamiti Jr., from Wisconsin, was ranked sixth at 174. Teague Travis was No. 9 at 157 pounds, while 125-pounder Troy Spratley was ranked seventh.

Other ranked Cowboys included 141-pounder Tagen Jamison (13th), 149-pounder Carter Young (21st) and 197-pounder Luke Surber (21st).

The Cowboys’ 2024-25 schedule has not been released yet but is expected to be announced before October.
