Oklahoma State’s Record With Its 2011-2015 Uniforms

RIP Brandon Weeden Era uniforms. They will always be that to me. They debuted the same season this blog debuted (and really helped launch it), and now they have been laid to rest after the Ole Miss game. It’s fitting that Weeden was the one who introduced a new run of sweet threads in the spring with Dez Bryant and Dan Bailey.

Reader Calvin Downey went back and looked at every uniform combination and subsequent game outcome over the last five seasons. A tall task, but he nailed it. Here’s a look at some of the results (you can check out the full spreadsheet here).

Helmets Times Worn Times Won Times Lost Winning Percentage
White 10 9 1 90%
White w/Black OSU 1 1 0 100%
White Stripe w/Black OSU 5 4 1 80%
White Stripe w/Phantom Pete 3 2 1 67%
White Stripe w/Throwback Cowboy 1 0 1 0%
Black 19 12 7 63%
Black w/Phantom Pete 6 4 2 67%
Gray 3 3 0 100%
Carbon Fiber Gray 5 3 2 60%
Orange 3 3 0 100%
Orange w/Pete 2 2 0 100%
Orange Chrome 5 3 2 60%
Icy White 1 1 0 100%
White Stripe w/Throwback OSU 1 1 0 100%
Jerseys Times Worn Times Won Times Lost Winning Percentage
Orange 16 12 4 75%
Black 18 15 3 83%
Gray 2 2 0 100%
White 29 19 10 66%
Pants Times Worn Times Won Times Lost Winning Percentage
Orange 14 9 5 64%
Black 23 15 8 65%
Gray 11 11 0 100%
White 17 13 4 76%

My favorite combo was the Black-White-Orange (see above) which OSU went 1-2 in (losses to Iowa State and Kansas State and one insanely great win over OU). As Downey pointed out, OSU went 11-0 in gray pants. 11-0! It also went 2-0 in gray jerseys. OSU never lost when wearing gray. MAKE OSU ORANGE AGAIN THOUGH!

This was a fun look at what were pretty easily the best OSU uniforms of my lifetime. You can look at the different combos here and see how OSU did in them. Good work by Downey.
