One last Bracketology Run: OSU Projected to Narrowly Miss NCAA Tournament
Gulp.
The bid thieves have done their thing during conference tournament week and the bracket is beginning to take shape ahead of Selection Sunday and the bracket reveal at 5 p.m. this evening. So the burning question remains: is OSU getting into the field?
Jerry Palm at CBS Sports and Joe Lunardi at ESPN both say no.
Palm updated his bracket overnight Sunday and had OSU as one of the “First Four Out” in his projections. Arizona State was technically the first team out of the field in his bracket followed by OSU, Vanderbilt and North Carolina, meaning in the 68-team bracket OSU ranks 70th for him.
Lunardi also has OSU just missing the field in his projections overnight with OSU coming in as the first team out of the 68-team field. He has Arizona State sneaking in as the last team in the field.
OSU cheekily got involved in the resume conversation this week by submitting a tweet with its qualifications to get into the field. 10/10 for laughs and originality. The selection committee probably won’t take that into account, but it’s great nonetheless to see all of the Cowboys’ credentials laid out here for easy access (and hard to argue it isn’t one of the best 68 teams in college basketball).
OSU’s fate will be announced Sunday evening on CBS with the committee revealing the annual bracket at 5 p.m. CT.
