One Prominent Analyst Believes OSU Is On the Verge of Landing Christian Brown

Jerry Meyer is a hoops and recruiting expert for 247Sports who has been in the biz for years upon years. He writes about recruiting, dishes out #scoops, and from time to time, he predicts where players will land using the 247Sports crystal ball.

His forecast for four-star prospect Christian Brown is coming up orange.

Meyer on Friday placed a prediction in the crystal ball projecting that Brown, the No. 61 overall player in the 2019 class, will commit to Oklahoma State. He’s the second national analyst to make such a prediction this week, joining Basketball Illustrated’s Dain Ervins.

Brown’s crystal ball indicator still reads NC State to be the favorite, with 54 percent of analysts saying he will go there. But those predictions came months ago; the last three analysts who placed votes here are all OSU.

Many times the crystal ball is wrong, simply because of the way it is structured. It allows local reporters to place votes for the local team they cover, and the only repercussion is a ding on their prediction score. But Meyer banking on Brown to join Boynton is absolutely notable for this reason: Of the 127 predictions he’s placed in the 2019 recruiting cycle, 102 (80.31 percent) have come to fruition.

That is not an insignificant number.

Add in Meyer’s prediction with Christian Brown’s mom raving about her experience in Stillwater over the weekend, and, well, things are definitely getting interesting. If Boynton can add Brown to the late fold, he’ll have himself the No. 13 class nationally in 2019 recruiting rankings.
