Oklahoma State officially announced the signing of 6-foot-8 forward Duncan Demuth of Seminole High School in Florida on Tuesday.

Demuth inked with the Pokes following a recent October commitment to Mike Boynton and Oklahoma State, despite offers from a number of high-level programs including Florida State, Iowa State, South Carolina, UMass, South Florida and Princeton, among others.

“We’re very excited about Duncan because he’s extremely versatile from a basketball standpoint, and he has a tremendous work ethic,” Boynton said of his newly signed forward. “Duncan is a do-it-all type player, and he has a terrific upside in terms of his ability to develop his offensive game. I love that Duncan has strong fundamentals, and he’s a guy who can be a versatile defender for us. He can guard the perimeter as well as the rim because of his length and athleticism. Best of all, Duncan is driven to be the best that he can be.”

Demuth is ranked as the No. 32 player in the state of Florida according to 247Sports.com, and the No. 67 player at the power forward position. His signing gives OSU its second official member of the Class of 2018 for Mike Boynton, joining 6-foot-11 big man Yor Anei.

Unlike Anei, who is a true big man and rim protector, Demuth gives OSU versatility at his height and position as a stretch forward. He has solid handles, can rebound at a high level, and has an uncanny ability to score it. His outside game might need some work if he is to develop into a Kevin Love-like stretch-four with the ability to step out beyond the arc and knock down 3s, but when it comes to midrange and touch around the rim, he’s as good as anyone OSU has recruited in several classes.
