OSU Baseball: Cowboys Earn Series Win over Central Michigan with 8-1 Game 2 Victory
The Cowboys will look to sweep the Chippewas on Sunday.
The Pokes’ bats have come back to life this weekend, but it was the stingy play from the mound that helped them earn the series win on Saturday.
Oklahoma State topped Central Michigan 8-1 in Game 2 of a three-game weekend series. The Cowboys beat the Chippewas 7-4 in their home opener on Friday.
Brian Holiday earned his first win as a Cowboy, striking out nine Chippewas and allowing just one run in eight innings. He allowed three hits and walked two. He ranks second on the team with an ERA of 0.96, despite a healthy lead in innings pitched at 28.

The Cowboys came out swinging (and connecting) with two runs in the first and three in the second. Carson Benge’s (3-5) triple broke the seal.

And then Jaxson Crull (1-3) cranked a three-run homer over left field an inning later.

CMU’s Ely Stuart accounted for the Chippewas’ only run on a sac-fly in the third, but Kollin Ritchie’s (3-4) RBI single sent Tyler Wulfert across the bag to answer. Benge scored Crull with a single RBI in the fourth, and then Wulfert found home again on a wild pitch in the seventh.
