OSU Football Recruiting: 2020 John Tyler Athlete Picks Up Offer From Cowboys
Crawford is a 2020 corner/running back from Texas.
John Tyler star athlete Kitan Crawford, a two-way force who plays both running back and cornerback for the Texas program, announced an offer from Oklahoma State on Thursday. The 5-10, 170-pound prospect now has more than a dozen offers from the likes of Texas, Illinois, K-State and others.
Crawford is expected to be a cornerback at the next level, and he’s got a pretty great mentor to help him chase that dream. His high school head coach, Ricklan Holmes, was once a star corner himself — for the NFL most recently, but first at Oklahoma State. Holmes also ran track for the Cowboys. He graduated with a marketing and finance degree in 2003.
Crawford may not follow in his footsteps, but Holmes’ influence and OSU ties certainly can’t hurt. When he announced his offer, he used an old photo of his coach in OSU gear and Holmes took notice:
That players looks like someone I know ???

Crawford is a 2020 recruit ranked as a three-star prospect by 247. OSU already holds one commitment at corner in the 2020 class in Jabbar Muhammad, but has steadily pursued a number of others, ranging from five-star Kelee Ringo to three-stars Ryan Frank and Korie Black, and everyone in between.
The expectation is that OSU will, at minimum, take three corners in the class, so regardless of where the others currently sit, a new offer to Crawford to get in the mix is a smart move. Whether the staff can convince him to follow his coaches footsteps instead of staying in the state with Baylor or Texas is another matter.
