OSU Loses Another Commitment From 2021 Recruit Kolbe Fields

For the second time in as many days, Oklahoma State has lost a commitment from a football recruit.

Piling on to the loss of four-star Class of 2022 offensive line recruit Kelvin Banks on Sunday, three-star Class of 2021 defensive recruit Kolbe Fields has followed suit, according to GoPokes.com.

He was the third-highest ranked defensive commitment in the 2021 class.

The decommitment leaves OSU with just 10 commitments in the 2021 recruiting class and without one of its key linebacker recruits. Fields, a 6-foot-1, 205-pound prospect, was the only outside linebacker pledge in OSU’s class and the counterpunch to inside linebacker recruit Collin Oliver, who is expected to play the “Leo” position that Trace Ford plays.

With back-to-back days resulting in back-to-back decommitments, it’s hard to ignore the negative momentum. But Fields was trending this way for awhile — after he committed to OSU in January he picked up Memphis, SMU and Purdue offers — and now he’s officially back off the commitment board.

Time will tell if OSU can regain his commitment or not, but his profile is likely to only raise as he enters his senior season for Archbishop Rummel in Louisiana after he accumulated a team-high 105 tackles as a junior in 2019. Meantime, all eyes may shift toward in-state outside-backer Donovan Stephens from Del City, who was expected to commit earlier this year but remains uncommitted.
