OSU Players Receive Sweet Swag Ahead of Cheez-It Bowl
The Cowboys and Canes came out pretty good.
This year will provide anything but the traditional bowl experience for postseason participants. Bowl trips are shorter and more controlled due to COVID precautions while several bowl games have been cancelled altogether.
But for the Cowboy and Canes, there was some modicum of normalcy in the much-anticipated bowl swag that each player received upon arrival.
247 Sports compiled a list of all the bowls’ treats, and the Cheez-It Bowl’s gifts are not too shabby.
Oklahoma State and Miami players receive the following: a $400 Amazon gift card (that will make a dent in the total cost of a PS5), a watch and a backpack.
I perused the rest of the list and had a couple observations.
Best Bowl Gifts: PlayStation Fiesta Bowl
Staying on brand, the PlayStation Fiesta Bowl is dolling out PS5 consoles and a Lululemon 22L Cruiser backpack.
Most Meh Gifts: Lookheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl, Servpro First Responder Bowl
The two bowls offer the same gift suite of: an Anker phone charger, a football and an apparel item. Maybe I’m just old and out of touch, but a big yawn on the phone charger. Christmas was last week. They haven’t even opened up to one they got from their uncle yet.
Had to Google Gifts: LendingTree Bowl
Maui Jim sunglasses, Nixon watch, wireless ear buds; Hudson Cole duffle bag. I’m definitely old and out of touch because not one of those rings a bell.
It’s important to note that the NCAA sets a cap of $550 for bowl gifts, so not quite enough to sway a potential draft pick who might be on the fence about participating. But it’s a fun part of the experience for those that do.
