OSU Recruiting: This 2020 Athlete Could be One to Watch Ahead of Signing Day

A name to monitor for OSU fans.

With skill talent sitting at priority No. 1 for Oklahoma State as it gears up for next week’s early signing period, California standout Kody Epps has emerged as a name to watch in the coming week.

Epps is a three-star athlete from Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, California, who plays primarily at receiver. He caught 92 passes for 1,726 yards receiving and 28 touchdowns as a senior playing out of the slot.

Epps has good route-running skills and a knack for finding the open seam out of the inside. Once he finds open field, he’s Chuba gone, as evidenced by his 18.7 yards per reception.

Epps can play outside as well, but with Oklahoma State already set to sign outside receiver Matt Polk, a 6-foot-4 pass-catcher, Epps could be best-suited for a slot role if OSU were to make a push.

As of now, Epps does not hold an Oklahoma State offer but Epps has expressed interest in OSU, according to a source. Oregon, BYU, Nevada and a few other schools have already offered. Whether that will amount to an OSU offer is unclear. OSU offered Class of 2020 athlete Rashod Owens earlier this week, but Owens played primarily at running back in high school whereas Epps plays exclusively at receiver. With OSU likely looking to take at least one more commitment from an athlete/receiver in this class, he could be a name to watch as the signing period fast approaches.
