OSU Reports Three Active COVID Cases on Football Team, One in Hoops

This is the first basketball positive reported.

For the second consecutive week, the Cowboy football team has three active cases of COVID-19.

Oklahoma State released new data Monday of tests done through Sunday, showing that the athletic department had seven active cases as a whole. Three of those came from the football program, and one was on the men’s basketball team.

OSU started releasing basketball numbers last week, where the Cowboy basketball team had zero. Positive tests on a basketball team are likely more significant than that on a football team because basketball teams have 13 scholarship players while football has 85.

The Cowboys are set to play at Marquette on Tuesday, and a source told PFB the one positive shouldn’t affect that game being played.

The football team was on a five-week spree where there were no active cases, but that changed last week. It’s uncertain whether the three this week are the same people who tested positively last week.
