OSU Softball: Cowgirls Fall to Florida State 8-0
The Cowgirls head back from Mexico 2-2.
On Friday night, the Cowgirls earned a run-rule win. On Saturday, they tasted their own medicine.
No. 4 Oklahoma State fell to No. 9 Florida State 8-0, the perfect payback from the Seminoles. The Cowgirls finished the Puerto Vallarta College Challenge with the loss to Florida State, two days after they bested the Seminoles 9-6.
Between the two meetings, the Cowgirls split a pair of games, falling to Louisiana Tech 6-1 before run-ruling Northern Colorado 8-zip. Less than 24 hours after exacting that fate, they suffered a run-rule themselves from FSU.
It was quiet over the first two. Then Florida State’s Kennedy Harp rocked a three-run triple to right field in the third. The Seminoles added two more in the fourth, thanks to Jahni Kerr and Krystina Hartley, to make it 5-0 going into the fifth to give FSU the chance for the early finish. Kerr rocked a two-RBI single to push the lead to 7-0 and just a run away from the run rule before Isa Torres cracked a single to left field to finish it.
OSU’s Katie Kutz fell to 0-1 on the year, pitching three innings, allowing two hits and three runs. RyLee Crandall spelled her but allowed five runs in one and two third innings, striking out two.
The fourth-ranked Cowgirls are now 2-2 and will head to Florida to try to bolster their preseason hype.
OSU will face UCLA 2 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 14 at Shriners Children’s Clearwater Invitational in Clearwater, Florida.
