For the second straight day, the Cowgirls split a double-header in the Shriners Children’s Clearwater Invitational.

No. 9 Oklahoma State rallied with a walk-off 6-5 win over No.5 Texas A&M Saturday morning before running out of steam in a 2-1 loss to Auburn on Saturday afternoon.

First, the fun game for Cowgirls fans.

OSU 6, A&M 5

BOXSCORE

The Cowgirls fell behind after a three-run second inning by the Aggies before answering with a couple of runs in the bottom of the fourth.

Micaela Wark flied out to score Rosie Davis before Rachel Hathoot’s single sent Karli Godwin home. Both Davis and Godwin would return the favor, but not before A&M padded its lead with a score each in the fifth and six innings.

The Cowgirls went into the bottom of the seventh down three runs before then Rosie Davis and Karli Godwin did Rosie Davis and Karli Godwin things.

Ruby Meylan got the start in the circle and pitched four innings, allowing four hits and four runs, walking four and striking out four. Sophomore Katie Kutz earned the win and moved to 3-1 on the year after allowing just one run on four hits in the final three. She struck out three Aggies.

Auburn 2, OSU 1

BOXSCORE

After four games in less than 48 hours, you start to wonder if a team starts to lose some steam. After the dramatic rally earlier in the day, the Cowgirls went just 7-for-25 at the plate with their single run coming when a wild pitch in the first inning sent Megan Delgadillo home.

The Tigers scored an unearned run in the top of the third on a bases-loaded walk. They scored again in the fifth when Abbey Smith hit a solo homer over the center-field wall.

Kyra Aycock got the start, pitching two and one-third innings, allowing two hits and a run before RyLee Crandall took over in the circle for two innings, allowing two hits and a run to go with two walks and a strikeout. She walked one and struck one out. Kutz pitched the final two and two-thirds innings, giving up just one hit and striking out three Tigers.

The Cowgirls move to 4-4 on the year and will finish up the event with a matchup against No. 12 Alabama at 5 p.m. Sunday in Clearwater.
