OSU Softball: Cowgirls Win Arizona Series Opener Via Walk Off
Warsop walks it off in extras after Meylan threw 160 pitches.
The Cowgirls probably have some work to do to get into the top 16 in order to host an NCAA Regional, but over the past few days, they’ve been putting in the work required.
Oklahoma State opened its series against No. 16 Arizona with an 8-7 win in Cowgirl Stadium. This comes after OSU knocked off top-ranked Oklahoma on Wednesday in Oklahoma City.
Friday’s game was an all-timer, going 10 innings and lasting four hours and 40 minutes. It featured an early lightning delay before they were somehow able to squeeze all 10 innings in before a storm rolls in from the north.
Tia Warsop finally put an end to the festivities in the bottom of the 10th, singling to right with the bases loaded. It continues a stretch of Warsop showing up in big moments after she went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored in Bedlam.

Someone give Ruby Meylan a rest.
It was another complete game for the Cowgirl ace. The All-American threw 160 (!!!) pitches. That number is crazy enough on its own, but it’s even more crazy given the fact she threw 133 pitches in Bedlam two days ago.
She finished Friday having given up the seven runs (five earned) on 10 hits while walking one and striking out five. All the runs she gave up gave in the fourth inning or later. She had to be tired.
The Cowgirl offense gave their ace an early cushion.
Claire Timm started the bottom of the first inning with a leadoff home run, her sixth round-tripper of the season.
Lexi McDonald scored on a passed ball later in the inning, and then Warsop singled up the middle to score Amanda Hasler after Hasler doubled in her first at-bat.
OSU’s lead moved to 4-0 in the second when Rosie Davis got a ball through the right side, sending freshman outfielder Jayelle Austin home.
The Cowgirls scored again in the third when Hasler hit a leadoff home run, her 11th of the year.

That’s when the Wildcats started to mount a comeback, scoring their first run in the fourth inning and adding two in the fifth and another in the sixth.
OSU made it 6-4 in the bottom of the sixth with a Davis single, but then a two-run home run in the seventh from Arizona tied it back up.
The Cowgirls almost ended it in the seventh, but Audrey Schneidmiller was thrown out at the plate to force extras.
Arizona took a lead in the eighth off a solo home run. But then Timm uno reverse carded the Cats with a leadoff homer in the bottom of the eighth to tie it again, her second home run of the game and seventh of the year to set up Warsop’s walk off.

It’s a good start to the series for the Cowgirls, but you’d have rather not had Meylan go 160 pitches into a Friday start. Game 2 of the series is set for 2 p.m. Saturday in Cowgirl Stadium.
