The Utes will be glad they don’t have to see any more Ruby Meylan for the time being.

The Oklahoma State softball team completed its series sweep of Utah on Sunday with a 4-2 win. Meylan pitched the final 3 2/3 innings of Sunday’s contest, where she held Utah scoreless while allowing four hits and striking out three.

Meylan threw 218 pitches against Utah this weekend, and she allowed one Ute to cross the plate. In a combined 13 1/3 innings, she gave up 12 hits, struck out 10 and walked five. The Cowgirl ace’s ERA is down to a 2.29 this season, and she’s now 15-6 on the year.

Sunday’s game was tied going into the sixth inning. Amanda Hasler started that frame with a single before Lexi McDonald brought home pinch-runner Libby Jaques with a double to right-center field, giving the Cowgirls a 3-2 lead.

A walk and a bunt then loaded the bases for OSU before Tia Warsop was able to draw a five-pitch bases-loaded walk to add some insurance.

Hasler paced the Cowgirls with three hits Sunday, going 3-for-4 with a run scored. She’s on a seven-game hit streak.

Karli Godwin was the only other Cowgirl with multiple hits, as she went 2-for-3. She had an RBI in the third inning, singling to left-center and allowing Warsop to jet home from second. It was Godwin’s 150th career hit.

RyLee Crandall got the start in the circle for OSU. She went the first 3 1/3, giving up two runs on six hits while striking out one before handing the ball over to Meylan.

OSU is on a bit of an extended road trip. Sunday’s game was the fourth of nine games the Cowgirls will play away from Cowgirl Stadium. But first, the Cowgirls will have some time off. They head up to Wichita for a midweek game against the Shockers on April 8.
