OSU Tennis on a Roll Heading into Senior Day

With all of the chaos and uncertainty that has followed basketball in the last several weeks, the OSU Men’s and Women’s Tennis Teams have quietly remained consistent and thriving.

The No. 8 Cowboys (20-4, 3-1) have won 9 out of their last ten, have not lost a road match this season, and have won an astounding four top-10 matches. If any indication is needed to show the heart and tenacity in this Cowboy’s squad, this past weekend can be used as evidence. Facing an early hole on the road against a top-5 conference foe, the Cowboys clawed their way back in front of a hostile environment to defeat No. 3 Baylor in Waco 4-3. Coach Udwadia spoke highly of his team’s poise and chemistry after the win.

“This group is great at supporting each other,” Udwadia said. “We’re a close team and we have great leadership, so I think that has helped us to be able to block out the crowds or any other distractions.”

Meanwhile the No. 9 Cowgirls (17-4, 4-1) have matched the men by rattling off wins in 9 out their last 10 as well including 3-top 25 wins. Since the gauntlet of a weekend in early February against Stanford and Florida, the Cowgirls have only faltered once which was in a close Big 12 road showdown against No. 5 Texas Tech. The ladies still have an opportunity to share the Big 12 regular season title but must win out and hope the Lady Red Raiders lose their final conference match.

Senior Day for both squads is this Friday the 14th with the Men playing Tulsa at 3pm and the Women hosting Bedlam at 5pm. This has the making of a special night for OSU seniors and great way to cap off an amazing OSU Tennis season at the Greenwood Center. Both squads are anticipating large turnouts for Senior Night.
