OSU to Play in BOK Center Basketball Showdown vs. Minnesota in 2019
OSU is facing the Golden Gophers for a second straight year.
The Tulsa version of 2018’s U.S. Bank Stadium Basketball Classic is coming soon.
OSU announced Monday that the Cowboys will play against Minnesota in nonconference play for a second consecutive on Dec. 21, 2019 as part of a four-team event at the BOK Center called the BOK Center Basketball Showdown.
OSU will face Minnesota, while Tulsa will face Colorado State as part of a doubleheader. The Pokes lost last year’s battle against the Golden Gophers 83-76 in a venue that was basically a home game for Minnesota. With the BOK Center located in the heart of downtown Tulsa, in the heart of a strong OSU alumni base, payback could be sweet.
Minnesota went 22-14 last season but lost star Amir Coffey to the NBA Draft and double-double machine Jordan Murphy to graduation. So 2019 could be a rebuilding year for Richard Pitino’s club, and OSU will likely enter the game as a favorite.
OSU is 3-4 all-time against Minnesota and 1-0 in the beautiful downtown venue. The Pokes beat Tulsa 71-54 in 2010 at the BOK Center, the only other time they’ve played there since its opening in 2008.
Tipoff times and television information will be released at a later date but tickets are available beginning Friday, June 14 at just $15 a pop in the OSU section.
