OSU Wrestling: Cowboys Set to Host Virginia Tech This Upcoming Season
The Hokies finished seventh at NCAAs last season.
David Taylor is bringing an ACC foe to Stillwater.
Virginia Tech on Monday announced that the Hokies will come to Gallagher-Iba Arena to wrestle Oklahoma State on Dec. 19. It’s just the second time the two programs will wrestle in a dual, with the other coming in 2011, a dual Virginia Tech won 18-16.

A proud program in its own right, Virginia Tech finished seventh at the NCAA Wrestling Championships this past season, crowning just its second NCAA individual champ in program history in 149-pounder Caleb Henson. Henson was only a sophomore.
Under coach Tony Robie, the Hokies went 9-4 last season, picking up ranked wins against Rutgers, Stanford, Appalachian State and Pitt. They finished second at the ACC Wrestling Championships and sent seven wrestlers to NCAAs.
It’s a new era of OSU wrestling with Taylor taking over after longtime coach John Smith retired. The Cowboys have added a quartet of high-level transfers this offseason in Cameron Amine, Dean Hamiti, Caleb Fish and Wyatt Hendrickson. Multi-time All-Americans Amine and Hendrickson committed to OSU after Taylor was hired.
That group combined with returners like Dustin Plott, Troy Spratley and others should see the Cowboys build on their 10th-place finish at NCAAs last season, and this dual could be a solid measuring stick to see where the group is at early in the year.
