The Cowboys have beaten the Sooners in wrestling 20 times in a row.

Oklahoma State traveled down to Norman on Friday and walloped Oklahoma 35-3. The Cowboys are 5-0 in duals under new coach David Taylor and have scored at least 30 points in each of those duals.

The most entertaining bout of the night came at 133 points, where Reece Witcraft pinned Cleveland Belton, but it wasn’t all that straight forward. Belton took an 8-2 lead into the third period after catching Witcraft on his back in the second. But Witcraft is perhaps at his most dangerous when he needs a big move.

Witcraft shot. Belton popped to his knees in defense, and Witcraft used his upper body strength to throw Belton to his back and pin him. A dual that might’ve been 4-3 after two matches was all of a sudden 10-0 in OSU’s favor.

The Cowboys also picked up bonus points at 125, 165, 184 and heavyweight. Troy Spratley started the dual with a 10-1 major decision against Antonio Lorenzo. At 165, Cameron Amine beat Tate Picklo 14-3. Dustin Plott played some late catch-and-release to beat DJ Parker 19-6. And then Wyatt Hendrickson did Wyatt Hendrickson things in route to a 20-4 technical fall against Juan Mora.

At 141 pounds, No. 4 Tagen Jamison picked up a top 10 win against No. 9 Mosha Schwartz, beating the Sooner 8-3. Dean Hamiti Jr. also picked up a top 10 win at 174 pounds, besting No. 6 Gaven Sax 4-0.

The only bout the Cowboys lost came at 149 pounds when Carter Young fell in ride outs to Willie McDougald in a funky match that included a few stalling points and ended with even the commentators a little unsure as to how McDougald was awarded the win.

OSU’s 20th straight win against the Sooners ties a series record that OSU set from 1969-78. It was OU’s first loss of the year. The Cowboys are now 152-27-10 against OU all time and hold a 66-15-8 advantage in the series in Norman.

The Cowboys return home next week to host Virginia Tech at 7 p.m. Thursday in Gallagher-Iba Arena. That’ll be the Pokes’ last dual of 2024.
