PFB+: OSU Commit Carter Langenderfer Playing Both Ways This Fall, Shares What It’s like Playing with Tajh Overton
The Owasso safety commit on his recruitment and what he’s working on headed into the fall.
Owasso safety Carter Langenderfer wants to finish his senior season this fall with 100 tackles and a state title before the Oklahoma State commit joins the Cowboys.
Considering his team came one play away from doing so last year, and Langenderfer said he recorded 77 tackles last season, both goals seem extremely reasonable. But the safety also wants seven interceptions after getting three in 2024. That seems like a much tougher milestone to hit, but Langenderfer approached the spring with that in mind.
“I think the main thing is my ball skills,” Langenderfer said when asked how he’s improved. “You know, that’s one thing. I’m looking at my film last year, I realized, like from a personal evaluation, that my ball skills could be better.”
So the safety spent time this offseason playing receiver and said he will continue to play both ways for Owasso during the fall. Langenderfer said taking snaps on offense will also help him improve his coverage skills as he can better understand what the receivers will be thinking.
All of which should be icing on the cake for Cowboys staff already sold on the skills of the No. 22-ranked prospect in the state, according to the 247Sports’ composite rankings.
When asked why Oklahoma State pushed for his commitment this offseason, Langenderfer said, “(my) range and then the cover ability. They believe I’m a good cover guy.”
