PFB+ Q&A: 2025 Quarterback Jett Niu Discusses His Commitment to Oklahoma State
‘They’re building a dynasty over there, and I loved everything about it.’
The Cowboys added a quarterback to their 2025 recruiting class on Tuesday, as Jett Niu pledged to the Pokes.
Niu (pronounced: knee-you) spoke with PFB on Tuesday afternoon about his commitment, the visit he took this past weekend, his brother picking up an OSU offer and more.
PFB: Why Oklahoma State?
Niu: “I went on the visit over there, and when I first got there, I was committed to App State. I kind of just wanted to get the vibe over there and just see what they had over there. As more and more of the weekend went on, I just fell in love with the culture and the coaches. Coach (Tim) Rattay is amazing. He definitely knows his stuff. Coach (Kasey) Dunn, Coach (Mike) Gundy, they all are amazing coaches, and they definitely know what they’re doing. They’re building a dynasty over there, and I loved everything about it.
“Gameday, which was an awesome game against Arkansas. I mean, they played great, and they got the W. That was good. Just everything about it — the culture, being able to be around the guys and see what they’re all about as well. It was everything all together that made me want to make that decision.”
PFB: What were some of your favorite parts of the visit?
Niu:Â Definitely the game. I liked spending time with Coach Rattay. That was good. Definitely liked going out and eating with all the coaches and getting to know them.”
PFB: What stands out about Coach Rattay?
Niu:Â “He just wants to go out and win. He’s a hard-working coach. He has his priorities as a quarterback coach, and he has his priorities for his quarterbacks. He definitely knows what he’s doing. He’s been around the game for a while, and I think that he can develop me and turn me into the player I want to be.”
PFB: How did OSU first get on your radar?
Niu:Â “We kind of knew a coach over there — Beni Tonga. My dad and his dad kind of grew up together. Kind of started talking that way. We sent him our film to show them. He said that the coaches loved my film, and that’s why they offered.”
