PFB Schedule and Update: Hoops Returns Home for TCU and Travels to Allen Fieldhouse

Published

We’re now in the heart of the college basketball season, which is fun (as long as OSU is playing at home). The Pokes get TCU in GIA on Tuesday before traveling to Kansas on Saturday for a live sacrificial ceremony tilt on CBS at 11 a.m. Wrestling has another dual in GIA, and hey, an anticlimactic National Signing Day is just 10 days away.

Let’s take a look at what’s on tap this week.

Oklahoma State Games

• Wednesday, Jan. 31: Women’s basketball at Baylor — 6:30 p.m. on FSSW
• Thurs-Sat, Feb. 1-3: Men’s golf in Hawaii — All day
• Friday, Feb. 2: M/W Cross Country at DeLoss Dodds Inv. — All day
• Saturday, February 3: Equestrian vs. Auburn — 10 a.m.

Oklahoma State Media Appearances

Oklahoma State basketball availability is likely on Thursday. Wrestling availability is yet to be determined but will likely be on Tuesday. Baseball (!) availability will be on Monday.

PFB Coverage

Our new beat writer Luke Garza will be at baseball and, depending on the timing, will try to be at hoops and wrestling, too.

Contribution Updates

Last week I was traveling Tuesday-Friday at the PGA Show in Orlando and didn’t have much time to write and/or update the site. Remarkably — and I shouldn’t be surprised by this — the site just … ran. Garza broke some softball news. Other writers broke down the Senior Bowl. Cox and Boone covered the Tech game.

I hate being away and not pitching in, but sometimes it happens. And I’m proud to have self-starting people who push PFB forward when I’m gone. One of the reasons we can hire these people is because of you and your contributions.

We are currently up to 326 contributors. Our immediate goal is to get to 500 contributors with bigger plans beyond that. We want to send a writer and photographer to every football game in 2018 (including road games and the bowl), build out our recruiting coverage and update our website. All of this will add credibility to our coverage, and your contributions will allow us to do that. Thank you to those of you who have signed up, and I encourage those of you who haven’t (but enjoy our coverage) to do so.

Site/Staff Updates

We are always grinding on what kind of #content you guys want to see. I’m constantly workshopping, stealing and repurposing column types I see on other websites and trying to apply them to ours. We would love to hear the types of posts you guys want to see on PFB and provide that coverage for you as long as it makes sense to do so.

One of our goals for 2018 is to top 20 million pageviews. Last year we had just over 14 million so that’s going to be a chore, but I’m confident we can get there or get really close.
