Pokes in the NFL Week 2: Patmon, Weeden Play Big in Philly

Published

on

Even without Dez Bryant, the Dallas-Philadelphia game on Sunday afternoon was all kinds of interesting.

With nine players from either Oklahoma or Oklahoma State on the two teams, the field became sort of a Bedlam battleground. Many former Pokes played a big part in a 20-10 Dallas win. Joseph Randle had another solid game as the lead back for the Cowboys, finishing with a total of 65 yards. Tyler Patmon made former Sooner Sam Bradford’s day difficult. Dan Bailey got into it with former Oklahoma running back DeMarco Murray.

But by far the most intriguing facet of Sunday’s game was Brandon Weeden. Weeden came into the game in the third quarter after Tony Romo suffered a broken clavicle bone. Weeden went a perfect 7-of-7 for 73 yards and led the Cowboys on a scoring drive where he delivered a 42-yard pass to Terrance Williams.

With Romo out 8-10 weeks, it looks like we’ll see more of Weeden for weeks to come.

Romo will join Bryant on the sidelines, and we can only hope his Twitter timeline will be as active as Bryant’s, who chronicled the game for fans on social media.

Here is more social media reaction from the Dallas game.

Lemon joins Tampa Bay special teams

Orie Lemon joined Tampa Bay toward the end of last season and played some solid games for the Bucs.

Tampa Bay re-signed Lemon this past week, and he played special teams against the Saints on Sunday.

Another OSU alum, Kevin Williams, plays for New Orleans. Williams finished with two tackles and a forced fumble.

Perrish Cox doing his thing with Titans

Cox played another respectable game for Tennessee.

After facing Jameis Winston last week, Cox faced another Heisman winner in Johnny Manziel. Cox finished with two tackles and a pass defended.
