Poll Results: Fans Think Washington Will Beat Hill For Yardage
A lot is expected of the Oklahoma State offense this year, especially of its three headed monster of Mason Rudolph, James “Mr. President” Washington, and Justice “King of the” Hill.
Barring injury, the only real question is who will end the season as the more productive player. When it comes to Washington and Hill, fans have spoken.
Tuesday's poll question: Who has more yards this year?
— Pistols Firing (@pistolsguys) August 29, 2017
Washington beat out Hill by just 41 votes. What’s interesting though, is that the comments were dominated by those who voted for Hill.
Troy: “It should be Hill if for no other reason he doesn’t have to share carries as much Washington will. From Gundy’s press conference I got the idea he wanted to play Hill about 80% of the time. There is no way Washington is going to get 80% of the passes.”
Jake Woods: “Hill. Washington has too many people do divide catches with.”
Gary Henderson @gencurby: “This looks an awful lot like OSU’s pass to rush ratio. 53% Washington to 47% Hill.”
I think I agree with the comments more than the poll. Hill is going to average 18 carries a game, while I would expect Washington to average around seven catches a game. Washington will get his yards, but there are too many mouths to feed to target him over and over again, unless the Cowboys find themselves in a matchup situation where he’s just destroying his cover.
Hill on the other hand, is the only proven back on the roster. He’s going to get his touches. I expect him to average 100+ yards a game by the end of the season and end the year with more yards. I’ll give the touchdown total to Washington, but Hill will get too many more touches than Washington to not out-gain him in yardage.
