Predicting Which Football Recruits OSU Might Land Commitments from Next

Five names to watch including the brother of an OSU star.

Oklahoma State’s coaching staff is off to a roaring start in the 2022 cycle with a top-15 class that is third in the Big 12 behind OU and Texas.

To this point the Pokes have filled out their class with high volume and with high quality, as four of the eight commitments are top-500 talents, and the 87.69 per-player average would rank as the highest of the Gundy era.

Naturally, the anticipation levels for how this class finishes are high. Over the years under Gundy quick starts have more often than not fizzled down the stretch. But OSU is still in on some big names — as you’ll see below — which could keep the Cowboys hot on the trail.

Here are five names to watch who I think could be next to join the class of 2022.

Ayvonne Jones | CB | 5-11, 180 | ???

OSU and Texas Tech are the apparent frontrunners here for Jones, a three-star prospect from Southlake Carroll. OSU offered back in December and is set to welcome him for an official later this summer. May the best Guns Up win?

Curlee Thomas | DE | 6-4, 230 | ???

OSU’s coaching staff has poured a lot of time and energy into Thomas even before offering him last spring. Thus far it has paid off, as he’s clearly interested and has focused in on the Pokes as one of his favorite schools. They are scheduled to get an official from him the weekend of June 16.

Braylin Presley | RB | 5-7, 155 | ????

Remember Rondale Moore, the Purdue lightning strike who was one of the most electric players in college football? That’s who Presley could be. He’s the younger brother of OSU receiver Brennan Presley, and the four-star talent could be one of the most dazzling playmakers to come through OSU in the last two decades if he chooses to stay in-state.

Bray Lynch | OT | 6-5, 275 | ???

It’s still relatively early for Lynch in his recruitment, but OSU is the big dog in the mix with Duke, Nevada, TCU, Southern Miss and a few others vying for his commitment. Something of an undiscovered gem who Charlie Dickey clearly took a liking to in evaluating players; when OSU offered in February only Penn, Dartmouth, Air Force, Illinois State and Columbia had offered.

Dylahn McKinney | CB | 6-0, 185 | ???

OSU has already made the top 10 for McKinney and is considered one of the frontrunners. Per 247Sports, Missouri, Arizona and UCF are also viable contenders. The Colleyville Heritage (Texas) product is a two-sport star in football and in track.
