The Reload is PFB’s recruiting recap, catching you up to speed on the latest news and rumors surrounding Oklahoma State recruiting, with an ear to the ground for what to expect in the future.

Five-star linebacker Anthony Hines names OSU in top 10

Plano East inside linebacker Anthony Hines, widely regarded as one of the top overall prospects in the country, narrowed his insanely large offer list of 90 down to 10 schools on Thursday. Hines is rated as the No. 15 player in the country by Scout, and the No. 1 inside linebacker in the country.

Among his top 10 included OSU, OU, Auburn, Florida, Ohio State, SMU, Texas, Texas A&M, TCU and UCLA. At 6-3, 225-pounds, Hines has the agility of a running back with the ball skills of a linebacker. And already has a frame that would make him a likely rotation player early in his career wherever he chooses.

“These schools match what I’m looking for as far as academically, socially, and of course on the field,” he told Scout after his release.

At this point, I’d say OSU is definitely a long shot in his recruitment. OU, Texas, Texas A&M, and UCLA all figure to be big players in my estimation. Hines has made unofficial visits to Stillwater before, so familiarity certainly plays a factor, too, especially knowing what he could see in the college town at OSU. With Hines, don’t be surprised if he takes his recruitment all the way down to the end toward national signing day.

Tylan Wallace Shining at The Opening

Tylan Wallace is a star in the making, and his shine keeps getting brighter as the week of competition at Nike Headquarters continues. He pulled off a pretty insane one-handed snag yesterday, but then topped that with even more impressive plays from today as shown in the videos below. The competition officially started today; but for what its worth, 247sports Director of Recruiting Barton Simmons, someone who knows what they’re talking about, said that “Tylan Wallace has been one of the best wide receivers so far.”

2018 QB Planning Visit

Junior prospect MJ Rivers, a three-star prospect, is planning to take an unofficial visit to Stillwater on July 12 he announced on twitter.

MJ, the Prestonwood Christian dual-threat talent, holds only one Div. I scholarship offer from Iowa State. However, being the son of former Oklahoma State and NFL tight end Marcellus Rivers, OSU has to figure to be very high on the radar for both the coaches and Rivers himself. OSU has other feelers out in the 2018 class at quarterback but no commitments yet — Rivers is a very interesting one I would keep an eye on.

2017 defensive back planning July 28 visit

Denton, Guyer defensive back Thabo Mwaniki will take an unofficial visit to Stillwater on July 28, according to his twitter account. Mwaniki has 11 scholarship offers from Army, SMU, Colorado, Uconn, and others. But with Mwaniki’s ability to play safety, and OSU just recently losing a commitment at safety, it will be interesting to see if the Cowboys take advantage of the visit by extending a scholarship and courting him during his time.
