Finally, the Cowboys aren’t rotating at quarterback.

For the first time this season, Oklahoma State isn’t planning on rotating at quarterback.

Alan Bowman is “the guy,” according to Dave Hunziker on Oklahoma State’s pregame radio show. This comes after three weeks of rotations among Bowman, Garret Rangel and Gunnar Gundy that has led OSU to a 2-1 record through nonconference play. Oklahoma State fell to South Alabama 33-7 last weekend in Stillwater.

A transfer from Texas Tech and Michigan, Bowman is by far the Cowboys’ most experienced option at quarterback. Bowman threw for 5,329 yards and 34 touchdowns at the college level before transferring to Oklahoma State.

Through the nonconference schedule, Bowman is the Cowboys’ leader in passing yards with 235. He is, however, the only OSU quarterback that hasn’t thrown a touchdown pass this year (he should’ve had one last week, but it was dropped). He also has one of the trio’s two interceptions.

His best game of the season thus far came in a road start against Arizona State. In the opening four series against the Sun Devils, Bowman was 11-for-16 with 113 yards, leading a touchdown drive in his final series.

Oklahoma State and Iowa State kick at 3 p.m. Saturday at Jack Trice Stadium. The game is being televised on FS1.
