Report: Chad Weiberg Had Dinner With Mike Holder on Monday
Smoke and fire, people. Smoke and fire.
Nathan Thompson of Fox 23 reported this week that Mike Holder and Chad Weiberg had dinner together in Stillwater. Weiberg, as we previously discussed, is a prime candidate to become the AD-in-waiting when Holder slides towards retirement (if it is soon).

Weiberg is currently an deputy athletic director at Texas Tech and serves as its COO. He was apparently also in town the week Mike Boynton was hired to be the new head basketball coach at Oklahoma State.
I have spoken with a handful of people who either believe Weiberg is going to be named AD-in-waiting soon or is the top candidate to become so. At this point, with the smoke that has been swirling around the situation, I would be more surprised if Weiberg was not named the presumed successor to Holder.
What seems to be more up in the air is what that timeline looks like for whoever will take over for Holder. Will that person get the gig this summer and become the AD in full at some point in 2018? Will he or she get a full go ahead this fall? Will it not happen for four more years?
One thing is certain. Mike Holder will not be the AD forever in Stillwater. For some, the day he steps aside will be a joyous occasion despite the fact that he has presided over the winningest time for the most important sport within his organization. This is silliness of course, but there is something to be said for a fresh start at the highest level. I’m excited to see who will make it.
