Washington Transfer Wesley Yates Visits Oklahoma State
Yates was a four-star prospect in the 2023 class.
Steve Lutz hosted a top-50 player in the 2023 recruiting class this weekend.
Wesley Yates, a 6-foot-4 guard from Beaumont, Texas, shared photos on social media Saturday night of him on a visit at Oklahoma State. Yates was the No. 37 player in the 2023 recruiting class, according to Rivals. He spent his freshman season at Washington but didn’t play as a freshman because of injury. He has four seasons of eligibility remaining.

Coming out of Beaumont High School, Yates had offers to Baylor, Texas, Gonzaga, LSU, Memphis, Auburn, Alabama, Arkansas and others. He wound up in Seattle, where his cousin — former NBA player Quincy Pondexter — was an assistant coach last season. Yates led Beaumont to a pair of state titles in Texas. He averaged 19.7 points and four rebounds a game as a high school junior.
He was a consensus four-star prospect. Earlier I mentioned he was the No. 37 player in Rivals’ ranking. For reference, that same ranking had Brandon Garrison at No. 30. and Eric Dailey Jr. at No. 75.
Since hitting the portal, Yates has also shared photos from a visit to Louisville.
Lutz still has seven scholarships available after already pulling FIU point guard Arturo Dean and Texas Tech forward Robert Jennings II out of the portal this past week. Bryce Thompson also announced this weekend that he would return for his final year of eligibility.
