Report: Five-Star Center Ugonna Kingsley Reclassifying, Picking Program after Upcoming Visit
Kentucky looks to be the favorite.
A high-ceiling prospect from Africa is enrolling in college a year earlier than initially anticipated.
Ugonna Kingsley, the No. 22 player in the 2023 recruiting clas,s is reclassifying into the 2022 class, according to Andrew Slater. Oklahoma State was Kingsley’s first visit late last month. Since, he has visited Kentucky and will visit Oklahoma this weekend before making a college decision.
Kentucky seems to be the heavy favorite to land Kingsley’s services, with analysts from 247Sports and On3 predicting he ends up in Lexington.
Kingsley was a late riser in the 2023 class after arriving in the United States from the NBA Academy Africa in Senegal. A Nigeria native, Kingsley is listed at 6-foot-11, 195 pounds.
If Kingsley were to shock some people and pick the Pokes, the Cowboys do have a scholarship open to take him. However, it could force the Cowboys into eating more scholarships over the next two seasons because of NCAA sanctions stemming from the FBI’s probe into college basketball. Kentucky and Oklahoma both have spots available for him, as well.
Four-star guard Quion Williams is the only freshman in the Cowboys’ 2022 class. Aside from the 6-4, 208-pound Williams, Mike Boynton brought in a trio of transfers in John-Michael Wright, Caleb Asberry and Russell Harrison in the 2022 class.
