Report: Landyn Cleveland to Enter NCAA Transfer Portal
One of OSU’s top 2024 recruits is hitting the portal.
One of the higher ranked prospects in the Cowboys’ 2024 recruiting class is going into the transfer portal.
On3’s Hayes Fawcett reported Tuesday morning that Landyn Cleveland plans on entering the the portal. Cleveland was a true sophomore at Oklahoma State this season, where he recorded 33 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss and a trio of pass breakups.
Cleveland came to OSU from Dallas via Mansfield Legacy High School. The 247Sports Composite ranking listed Cleveland as the No. 631 prospect in the 2024 recruiting class, which made him a Top 100 prospect in the state of Texas. He committed to OSU under then-defensive coordinator Bryan Nardo over offers from Penn State, Michigan, Oklahoma, Auburn, Arkansas and others.
He didn’t redshirt as a freshman in 2024, playing in eight games. He had three tackles as a freshman.
The OSU roster is under quite the transition phase. Longtime coach Mike Gundy was fired back in September, which opened up a 30-day portal window. North Texas’ Eric Morris was hired last week, five days after which a 15-day window opens for OSU players. Morris finishing up at UNT while getting started on some roster construction with the Cowboys.
Safety is a spot that Morris and Co. will have to hit heavily in the coming weeks, as six safeties from OSU’s season-opening roster have either entered the portal or made known their intentions to enter the portal.
