Report: NCAA Basketball Committees Aiming for Nov. 25 Start Date
The Cade Cunningham era might be pushed back a few days.
The Cade Cunningham era to Oklahoma State basketball might get a later start than originally anticipated.
The NCAA men’s and women’s basketball oversight committees agreed to propose a Nov. 25 start date on Tuesday, according to CBS Sports’ Matt Norlander. OSU had games scheduled against Green Bay (Nov. 10), North Texas (Nov. 13), Arkansas-Pine Bluff (Nov. 15) and the Charleston Classic (Nov. 19-22) before that initial date. The first game the Cowboys have on the schedule past that date is their Nov. 28 matchup against Oral Roberts.
That Nov. 25 date isn’t set in stone yet. It will be sent to the Division-I Council to get approval. That meeting is set for Sept. 16, according to Norlander.
If OSU sticks with its current schedule but cuts out games before Nov. 25, the Pokes’ nonconference schedule would look like this:
vs. Oral Roberts (Nov. 28)
at Marquette (Dec. 1)
vs. Oakland (Dec. 6)
at Wichita State (Dec. 12)
vs. Virginia Tech (Dec. 19)
vs. Central Oklahoma (Dec. 29)
This is the most highly anticipated season in recent memory for OSU basketball with Cunningham, the presumptive No. 1 pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, on the squad.
