Oklahoma State’s football program is more valuable than the programs at Texas, Florida and USC … at least in this one particular metric.

With EA Sports bringing back its college football game this summer, schools are set to make some money from their branding, facilities, etc. being in the game, and OSU is considered a Tier-1 school by the game, according to cllct. Schools were reportedly divvied into four tiers in terms of earning, with Tier 1 schools earning $99,875.16 in “revenue distribution (based on the minimum guaranteed royalties)” and Tier 4 schools earning $9,987.52.

OSU is one of 13 schools in Tier 1, per cllct, joining Alabama, Ohio State, Clemson, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Oregon, Penn State, Utah and Iowa. The tiers are based on AP Poll finishes across the past 10 seasons, meaning OSU is finally getting credit somewhere for being a consistently good program under Mike Gundy.

When a team finished in the Top 25 of the AP Poll in a given year, it received one point. To get into Tier 1, a team needed six points — the number the Cowboys had — tying with Oregon, Penn State, Utah and Iowa. Teams with two to five points are in Tier 2, while teams with one point are in Tier 3 and teams with no points are in Tier 4.

Some schools in Tier 2 include USC, Florida State, Texas, Florida, Tennessee, Miami, UCLA and Texas A&M.

Among Big 12 schools, here is how the teams are divided:

Tier 1 ($99,875.16): Oklahoma State, Utah
Tier 2 ($59,925.09): Cincinnati, TCU, Baylor, UCF, Kansas State, Arizona, West Virginia, Houston, BYU
Tier 3 ($39,950.06): Kansas, Colorado, Iowa State, Arizona State
Tier 4 ($9,987.52): Texas Tech

It’s a fascinating way to do things — one that surpasses the “eye test” or a simple helmet logo.

EA Sports College Football 25 is set to release July 19.
