Report: Oklahoma State Linebacker Enters the Transfer Portal

STILLWATER — Oklahoma State has just about reached the halfway point of the current transfer portal period following Mike Gundy’s dismissal as head coach.

On Tuesday, CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz reported that linebacker Darius Thomas would enter his name into the portal. He has not seen the field yet this season.

The redshirt junior made the move to Stillwater this offseason after starting 13 games and recording 54 tackles and a team-high four sacks at Western Kentucky last season. Thomas should have a redshirt available, as he missed the 2023 season because of injury, putting the “redshirt” in his “redshirt junior.”

This might be one of the positions that the Cowboys could best withstand a loss, considering the team still has five inside linebackers who have seen the field, plus two freshmen who have yet to make their debut on defense.

Along with news that Thomas is portal bound, similar reports have come out about David Kabongo (S), Dylan Smith (S), DeAndre Boykins (S) and Shea Freibaum (LS) and Michael Riles (DL) doing the same.
