TRANSFER PORTAL TRACKER

The Cowboys’ Aussie punter is reportedly hitting the portal.

Hudson Kaak entered the portal on Monday, according to 247Sports’ McClain Baxley. A 6-foot-2 sophomore this past season, Kaak punted 30 times in 2024, averaging 43.13 yards per punt. He pinned opponents inside the 20-yard line 11 times, had four punts of 50+ yards and forced 13 fair catches.

Kaak split time with Wes Pahl, who was a redshirt senior in 2024 but should have another year of eligibility remaining. Kaak was primarily used as the Cowboys’ short-field punter, specializing in pinning opponents deep, while Pahl was the big boomer, hitting eight punts of 50+ yards in 2024, including a long of 73 yards.

Out of Seymour, Victoria, Australia, Kaak joined the program after spending time with ProKick Australia, a program that specializes in turning Australian-rules football players into American football punters. It’s the same program OSU pulled Tom Hutton out of before Kaak.

Kaak played in 13 of OSU’s games as a true freshman in 2023. He punted 38 times that season with 20 of those kicks pinning opponents inside their 20.

The transfer portal opened on Monday, and it’s expected to be a busy window nationwide as teams prep for the 105-player roster limit anticipated to be put into action by a house settlement. It’s also expected to be busy in Stillwater, as the Cowboys moved on from coordinators Kasey Dunn and Bryan Nardo after a 3-9 season in 2024.
