The Cowboys are coming up on three weeks without a basketball coach, and another Oklahoma State player is reportedly set to enter the portal.

Quion Williams is the latest to be portal bound, according to multiple reports. As a sophomore this past season, Williams averaged 7.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.1 steals a game.

Listed at 6-foot-5, 220 pounds, Williams would join Brandon Garrison and Eric Dailey Jr. in the portal. It was reported Javon Small would enter the portal, but he hasn’t to this point after posting on social media he is “not officially in the transfer portal.”

A jack of all trades, Williams led the Cowboys in rebounding and steals this past season while ranking fifth in points scored and second in assists. He was one of three scholarship players players to return this past season from the Cowboys’ 2021-22 roster, along with Bryce Thompson and John-Michael Wright.

Out of Jonesboro, Arkansas, Williams joined the Cowboys as a four-star prospect in the 2022 class. He initially picked OSU over offers from Kansas State, TCU, Houston, Texas A&M, Ole Miss, Cincinnati and others.

Oklahoma State has been without a basketball coach since firing Mike Boynton on March 14. Western Kentucky coach Steve Lutz has been thought to be the leader for OSU’s vacancy for coming up on close to a week with no announcement made that he is, in fact, taking over.

Should Williams officially enter the portal, whichever coach takes over in Stillwater would now have seven scholarships to give out heading into next season.

Here are a list of players that haven’t entered the portal who could return for next season:

Bryce Thompson
Javon Small
Connor Dow
Jamyron Keller
Justin McBride

OSU also has one player signed as part of its 2024 recruiting class in Jeremiah Johnson.

UPDATE: Oklahoma State is reportedly set to hire Lutz as its coach. News broke shortly after the news of Williams heading to the portal.
