Report: Time, Location Set for Bedlam Hoops Matchup

The Cowboys and Sooners will square off again in OKC.
Oklahoma State and Oklahoma are set to square off Saturday, Dec. 13 at the Paycom Center in OKC, according to a report by college hoops insider Jon Rothstein.
The Cowboys and Sooners rekindled their rivalry at about the same time last year, with OSU falling to then No. 13 Oklahoma 80-65 on Dec. 14 at Paycom. OSU would go on to finish 17-18 in Steve Lutz’s first year after a third-round exit in the NIT.
Oklahoma started 13-0, including that win, but struggled with its introduction to the SEC, dropping its first four conference games and going 6-12. OU finished 20-14 overall and made the NCAA Tournament, falling to UConn in the first round.
OSU head coach Steve Lutz will have an almost brand-new roster in Year 2, but he’s brought on a handful of proven scorers via the transfer portal. OU head coach Porter Mozer has also added some talent on the transfer market, including a trio of double-digit scorers headlined by former St. Joseph point guard Xzayvier Brown.
When Oklahoma left the Big 12 for the SEC last summer, it put Bedlam rivalries in all sports at risk, but Lutz, then the incoming head coach at OSU, emphasized a desire to keep the in-state feud intact.
“Well, let’s just be honest, Cowboys don’t like Sooners,” Lutz said. “… It’s great for our state. Everybody wants to be able to say, ‘Hey, this is the year that we beat the Sooners in basketball and football and on the down the line.’ So it’s bragging rights and everything that comes with it.”
