Russell Okung Named to the Pro Bowl
Oklahoma State alumnus and San Diego offensive lineman Russell Okung has been named to the NFL Pro Bowl for the second time in his career, the NFL announced today.
Okung, who was selected by the Seattle Seahawks in the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft, was previously a Pro Bowler in 2013. He is the 57th Cowboy to earn Pro Bowl recognition, and this will be the 14th consecutive Pro Bowl to feature at least one former OSU player.
Okung was a member of an offensive line that led the NFL in fewest sacks allowed in 2017, which allowed the Chargers to lead the league in passing offense. Additionally, running back Melvin Gordon rushed for over 1,000 yards for the first time in his career.
Okung played for the Cowboys from 2006-2009 and started 47 games during that span. Not only did he finish his career as a two-time All-American, but he won the Jim Parker Trophy and Big 12 Offensive Lineman of the Year in 2009.
The 2018 NFL Pro Bowl will be held at 2 p.m. on Jan. 28 in Orlando’s Camping World Stadium.
