Source: Pecking Order at QB Sorted Out, Wudtee to Redshirt
The pecking order at quarterback is all but official following the conclusion of fall camp on Sunday. According to a source close to the program, Taylor Cornelius will indeed start the season as the backup to Mason Rudolph as we reported last week. 6-foot-4 redshirt freshman John Kolar is expected to land at No. 3 on the depth chart, ahead of true freshmen Keondre Wudtee and Nyc Burns. Here’s how the depth chart will look.
- QB1: Rudolph
- QB2: Cornelius
- QB3: Kolar
- Potential redshirt: Wudtee
- Potential redshirt: Burns
Cornelius has the most valuable of assets with his live game experience of the group (albeit, just two games and two pass completions), and Mike Gundy himself even tabbed him as the “leading candidate” to land the gig last week.
Kolar, who came out of spring under some scrutiny following a rocky spring game, appears to have kept the No. 3 spot behind Cornelius. The plan, according to the source, is to redshirt both true freshmen Keondre Wudtee and Nyc Burns this season.
