Spencer Sanders Given Ninth-Best Odds to Win 2020 Heisman Trophy
OSU’s young gunslinger is a way-too-early 2020 player to watch.
Maybe it really is a quarterback award.
In the same day that we found out that the nation’s leading rusher Chuba Hubbard finished just eighth in this year’s Heisman voting, one outlet is giving his quarterback more than a puncher’s chance at the trophy next year.
Sports betting service SportsLine came out with their way too early Heisman odds shortly after the 2019 trophy was handed out. Among its list of nine candidates given odds, six were QBs and the final one listed might surprise you.
Odds to win the 2020 Heisman Trophy:
Justin Fields +250
Trevor Lawrence +300
Mac Jones +700
Bo Nix +800
Kedon Slovis +1000
Jaylen Waddle +1200
Ja'Marr Chase +1500
Zamir White +2000

The freshman quarterback had an up-and-down start to his tenure, but the Cowboys missed him when he was gone and will be glad to have him back. Sanders emerged from a turnover-ridden mid-year stretch just to get knocked out for the remainder of the regular season. A thumb injury against Kansas required surgery and sidelined the rookie QB just as it appeared he was hitting his stride.
Sanders finished the regular season with 2,065 passing yards and 625 yards rushing with a combined 18 touchdowns. Regardless of if he sees the field during OSU’s Texas Bowl matchup with Texas A&M, Sanders will be champing at the bit to move his name further up that list come next fall.
