With football taking up the lion’s share of our attention this fall, we want to also shine the spotlight on other sports in Stillwater as well. Here’s a look at what else is going on.

Baseball

OSU announced its latest baseball recruiting class this week that included 20 players in total, with nine junior college transfers and 11 freshmen.

“I like this group of kids — excellent students, great size, quality athletic ability and a strong desire to be at Oklahoma State,” head coach Josh Holliday said. “We filled our needs for the 2018 season and continued to build a foundation for long-term success with some outstanding freshmen and transfers,” Holliday said. “I’m really excited about this group. In just a few short weeks on campus with them I have been impressed with the work ethic and positive energy of the group. I really like the unity and leadership I’m seeing already in the locker room.”

Golf

The men’s golf team isn’t the only team who enters 2017 as a ranked team. The Cowgirls head into the season at No. 24, according to GolfWeek.

Soccer

The No. 18 Cowgirls stayed undefeated by defeating Illinois 2-0 on Friday and Abilene Christian 3-0 on Sunday. Anna Beffer, Hayley Woodard, Jaci Jones and Julia Lenhardt all scored for the Cowgirls in their two-game weekend sweep. The wins put OSU at 7-0-1 on the season, and they now prepare for their next contest against San Francisco on Sept. 15.

“feel great obviously, we’re unbeaten at 7-0-1,” said head coach Colin Carmichael. “If you would have told us that at the beginning of the season, we would have taken it in a heartbeat.”

Tennis

The Cowgirls have released their schedule for the upcoming season, which features 15 home matches.

The Cowboys are playing in the Silverado Resort & Spa’s College Invitational in Napa, California. They have earned eight total team wins in two days of competition, and they finished their third day on Sunday.
