The Cowboys added some depth to an inexperienced running back room Thursday afternoon.

Texas A&M transfer Deondre Jackson announced his commitment to Oklahoma State. Jackson appeared in five games the past two seasons with the Aggies, carrying the ball three times for 13 yards.

Originally from Stephenson, Georgia, Jackson went to College Station, turning down offers from Alabama, Ohio State, Auburn, Florida, Tennessee and others. He was a three-star prospect in the 2020 class, ranking 859th in the composite rankings.

A&M listed him at 5-foot-11, 215 pounds last season.

Jackson joins a group that is set to be headed by Dominic Richardson, who enters his junior season. Aside from Richardson, the Cowboys are inexperienced at the position, but guys such as Jaden Nixon, Ollie Gordon and CJ Brown have a lot of potential.

Jackson is the first non-offensive lineman to join the Cowboys out of the transfer portal, joining Vandy transfer Jason Brooks and USC transfer Casey Collier.
