The 10 Best Stats from OSU-Kansas State

Published

on

I realize the article title is entitled “best stats” but there wasn’t really a lot to like about Saturday’s loss to Kansas State.

Here are some of the “best” and most interesting stats from the game:

6-0, 3-3*: Oklahoma State will finish the season undefeated on the road with a perfect 6-0 record. That’s the first time the Cowboys went undefeated on the road since 2015. On the flip side, OSU will finish no better than 3-3 at home depending on the outcome of this coming Saturday’s game against Kansas. That’s the first time the Cowboys will finish the season without a winning record at home since Mike Gundy’s first season, 2005.

19: James Washington had eight receptions for 159 yards and two touchdowns. This was Washington’s 19th career game with at least 100 receiving yards tying him for second in OSU history with Justin Blackmon. He is now one away from tying Rashaun Woods for the OSU record.

23.1%: Oklahoma State completed just 3-13 third down attempts on Saturday, their worst performance of the season on 3rd downs.

7: This was OSU’s seventh loss to an unranked opponent since the start of the 2010 season, and their third at home (Central Michigan 2016, Texas 2014).

284.9 – Freshman Kansas State quarterback Skylar Thompson finished with a passer rating of 284.9. That’s the fourth highest single-game mark in KSU history and the highest ever by a freshman.

9: After two interceptions on Saturday, Mason Rudolph now has nine on the season. That matches his career high for a season. He had nine in all of 2015.

162: On the plus side, Mason Rudolph now has 4,115 yards this season, good for third-best season in school history. He sits 162 yards away from tying Brandon Weeden’s second-place total of 4,277.

19: Mason Rudolph is getting the best protection of his OSU career. He has only been sacked 19 times this season. The last two season he was knocked down 30 and 31 times. Unfortunately, nearly half of those sacks (9 – 47%) have come in the last three games.

2.7: OSU’s 2.7 yards-per-rush average on Saturday was their worst of the season.
