The Reload: Mike Gundy Takes Helicopter to Recruit Dallas Metroplex

Mike Gundy’s recruiting escapades in Texas continued into Wednesday, as the OSU head coach made his way around the Dallas metroplex to check in on a number of OSU recruits and commits.

The first of the visits came with Dallas South Oak Cliff safety Kanion Williams, a three-star prospect who is one of many planning to sign in the Dec. 20 early signing period.

The next? A trip down to Sachse to see 2018 DE commit Tyler Lacy at Sachse High School, where defensive line coach Joe Bob Clements joined in on the effort to check on their edge-rushing high school phenom.

You’ll never believe it, but he also made quite the grand exit — you guessed it, via helicopter.

Gundy also stopped in to see 2018 athlete pledge Gabe Lemons — again via helicopter — this time in Coppell, Texas. Lemons is a three-star prospect expected to play cornerback for the Cowboys.

While all the visits are interesting in their own way, the visit of the day was Gundy’s trip to Rockwall-Heath to check on top cornerback target Tanner McCalister, a former Arkansas commit who has recently jumped back on the open market.

McCalister is a highly regarded corner with close to 20 scholarship offers, who is trending heavily in OSU’s direction since he backed away from his Razorbacks commitment. In addition to Sean-Michael Flanagan, McCalister is going to be a must-watch over the next week as the early signing period looms. It appears OSU is in a good spot here.
