‘They Don’t Give You a Trophy for 10-0’
I wrote earlier this week about how unaffected Oklahoma State seems with its 12-game winning streak. By how unimpressed this team is with itself. The main reason? Its two coordinators are pumping negativity in the face of 12 straight wins and a No. 4 ranking.
This is the old Bob Stoops theory. Treat ’em like kings when you lose and like peasants when you win. I don’t know if that actually works, but Mike Yurcich and Glenn Spencer are giving it a go.
“I know you guys are doing a story … and they’re having to answer these questions about why this has happened,” Glenn Spencer told the Tulsa World, “but as soon as I get ‘em in that meeting room tomorrow: ‘Guys, forget about that. That’s garbage. That has nothing to do (with beating Baylor). That can only hurt you if you’re thinking about that at all.'”
Haha, I can actually imagine this happening which makes it even funnier.
““It’s really put up or shut up time now,” Mike Yurcich told the O’Colly. “They don’t give you a trophy for 10-0. There’s no trophy for 10-0. There’s a trophy for the Big 12. We’re playing for a lot of things. Obviously, our guys are smart enough to understand what’s at stake.”
