With Marcus Watson’s recent commitment to Oklahoma State and the excitement that followed from that, I thought it would be fun to look back at some of the best recruits in OSU history.

Watson is in the top 25, according to 247 Sports’ rankings, and he’s joined by fellow 2019 commits Avery Anderson and Kalib Boone. Let’s take a look at the all-time OSU top 10 first and then move on to Nos. 11-25.

Top 10
Player Ranking
1 Gerald Green 0.9998
2 Le’Bryan Nash 0.9972
3 Marcus Smart 0.9960
4 Keith Brumbaugh 0.9948
5 Byron Eaton 0.9924
6 Obi Muonelo 0.9914
7 James Anderson 0.9910
8 Jawun Evans 0.9889
9 Roderick Flemings 0.9859
10 Ray Penn 0.9820

Four future NBA guys here with another (Le’Bryan getting a little run, too). That’s a pretty good hit rate, and these names and dates are a reminder that crootin is a lot of things, but it’s not everything (Travis Ford™️).

Nos. 11-25
Player Ranking
11 Michael Cobbins 0.9778
12 Karron Johnson 0.9775
13 Marcus Watson 0.9739
14 Stevie Clark 0.9697
15 Kenneth Cooper 0.9697
16 Joe Burton 0.9694
17 Martavius Adams 0.9692
18 Terrel Harris 0.9687
19 JamesOn Curry 0.9683
20 Roger Franklin 0.9682
21 Kalib Boone 0.9545
22 Jarred Shaw 0.9467
23 Mitch Solomon 0.9413
24 Avery Anderson 0.9374
25 Cezar Guerrero 0.9257

It’s a pretty mixed bag. For every Terrel Harris and Mitchell Solomon, there are three Jarred Shaws. I’d much rather see Watson have the career of the guys just ahead of him in the rankings — Obi, James Anderson or Jawun Evans (obviously) — than I would some of the guys just behind him.

As always, this was a fun trip down memory lane, and you can view the full list right here. Also, in case you were wondering, here are some guys who rank outside the top 25 …

27. Isaac Likekele
31. Markel Brown
32. Cam McGriff
37. Lindy Waters
39. Keylan Boone
