Tyree Griffin Steps Up Big in Win Over UMKC
The Cowboys backcourt is a talented, yet inexperienced group that has been anchored largely by true freshman all-american Jawun Evans.
But second year player Tyree Griffin, a valuable backup who has continued to see more playing time this season, stepped up big for the Cowboys and produced when they needed it.
Offensive struggles was the theme of the night in Stillwater, but Tyree Griffin managed 11 points on an efficient 5-of-7 shooting, and 1-1 from downtown.
“I thought Tyree made some big shots,” Ford said. “It was one of his better games and he bailed us out a couple of times.”
Griffin may not be a consistent threat, but Tuesday nights showing is a good measure of his development in his second season – and proves that it will be a team effort offensively this season.
Said Ford, “We had scoring from just about everybody tonight and we’re going to need that.”
